IT HAS BEEN A BUSY YEAR ALREADY FOR US.
FROM ASSISTING THE CFF AND MS WALKS TO THE BRENTWOOD SPECIAL OLYMPICS, WE'VE TRAVERSED THE ISLAND TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE. WE ARE ALSO ASSISTING MANY LOCAL LONG ISLAND MUNICIPALITIES AND CHARITIES IN THESE TOUGH ECONOMIC TIMES TO MAKE THEIR EVENTS BOTH BIG AND SMALL MORE FUN.
WE WILL ALSO CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THE LONG ISLAND CHAPTER OF CYSTIC FIBROSIS IN THEIR ENDEAVORS TO MAKE CF STAND FOR "CURE FOUND", JOIN US AT THEIR VARIOUS WALKS AROUND LONG ISLAND FOR
"GREAT STRIDES".
AND DON'T FORGET TO KEEP A "WEATHER EYE" ON OUR SITE FOR INFORMATION ON OUR 2010 PYRATES CANNONBALL FOR CFF COMING IN DECEMBER.
This non-profit organization was founded a decade ago by men and women from all walks of life with very varied backgrounds. These people had the idea to bring historical, educational and theatrical entertainment to the people of the greater metropolitan area, in the form of a 17th century reenactment group that depicts buccaneers, privateers... ok... pirates. That's right!!!... PIRATES!!, the first democracy of the New World.
This organization has dedicated itself to recreating a feel for that time; when the nations of Europe employed sea-faring men to prey upon their rivals for supremacy over the New World. We have sought to inform people of this part of their past by aiding local museums, chambers of commerce, and youth and charitable organizations in raising funds so they can continue to perform their good works. Some examples include helping the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum in its first fund raiser in over 35 years. The Brotherhood has since continued in these types of endeavors such as the Montauk Point Light House for Lighthouse Days, the West Sayville Maritime Museum, the 20th reunion at Princeton University Class of 1985, and the annual Oysterfest in Oyster Bay.
We co-sponsored a Halloween costume party at Sands Point Preserve to aid the Cody Center for Autistic Children at Stony Brook University Hospital and we travel each year to Olcott Beach in Niagara County to help the people of that area with a Pirate Festival which brings much needed revenue to that economically challenged region. We have journeyed to Hampton VA to help kick off their first annual Blackbeard festival in 2000 and participated in entertaining over 100,000 attendees of "Operation Sail".
We have performed at various Harbor and Seafood Festivals from Patchogue to Oyster Bay, from Port Jefferson to Captree. We donated our services to the Chamber of Commerce of Port Jefferson for their Harbor Festival when it had to be postponed because of the devastating attack of our nation on September 11th.
We have entertained boy scouts at an invocation and had reading of "Scary Sea Stories at Halloween" to families at Montauk Point Lighthouse. We, the members of Ye Pyrate Brotherhood, are dedicated to aiding the institutions of Long Island and environs to presenting entertaining historical fun to children and adults. The Brotherhood donates a portion of its earnings to local charities. Our 2008 Long Island Pirate Festival brought over 6,000 people to the Long Island Maritime Museum.
