Ye Pyrate Brotherhood was founded over a decade ago by men and women who had the idea to bring historical, educational and theatrical entertainment to  people  in the form of a 17th century reenactment group that depicts buccaneers, privateers... ok... pirates. That's right!!!... PIRATES!!

The Brotherhood has dedicated itself to recreating a feel for The Golden Age of Piracy. We seek to inform people about the truth behind the myths of piracy.  Towards that end we have lectured at libraries.  Whenever we appear at festivals we happily share our knowledge with the public.Appearing at festivals is a big part of what the crew does. We travel each year to Olcott Beach in Niagara County.  On Long Island we have appeared at the Great South Bay Music Festival,  and at the Long Island Maritime Museum's Pirate Festival.  We also set our course to the Fells Point Privateer Day in Baltimore, MD and the Blackbeard Festival in Hampton, VA and participated in entertaining over 100,000 attendees of "Operation Sail”. Our own 2008 Long Island Pirate Festival brought over 6,000 people to the Long Island Maritime Museum.

With the motto, “All Pirates Share Equally” our crew makes charitable work a top priority.  We helped the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum in its first fund raiser in over 35 years and recently sponsored a cancer fundraiser. The Brotherhood has a long history of aiding our local community: We donated our services to the Chamber of Commerce of Port Jefferson for their Harbor Festival when it had to be postponed because of the September 11th attacks. We co-sponsored a Halloween costume party at Sands Point Preserve to aid the Cody Center for Autistic Children at Stony Brook University Hospital. We held a “Pyrate Cannonball” to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  In addition, the Brotherhood donates a portion of its earnings to local charities.

We look forward to the opportunity to work with your organization to provide some piratical playfulness to your event. Please contact us with any questions you may have about our organization or to book the Brotherhood for your next event!
